Winter Break Challenge for Kids
Life tends to run on such a fast pace. Wasn't it just August and the first day of school?? How is it December and almost 2019 already?
Every year, the end of December and winter break seems a blur. Between travel, family visits or just plain life happening, my focus on helping the kids get some core learning done was getting a miss.
This year however, I planned to change that. I planned to give my kids a "Winter Break Challenge" My focus this year was to have both kids learn the Juz Amma with meaning and also re-learn old ones and memorize new daily duas.
When I received my first order of "My first Quran with Pictures" for the store, I immediately put one book aside for my kids. It was perfect! Beautifully illustrated and each Ayah of the surah explained in great visual detail. My kids were in love!
Not only were they learning their Surahs with meaning but also remembering the images and the context in detail. The Surah they would then recite just held some meaning for them.
The second book I started the kids on was The Daily Dua Activity Book
This is such a beautiful book. Each page had an image which the kids loved to color. Our focus is to do at least one dua a day and to complete most if not all them from this book. All duas were written in both Arabic and English along with a meaning.
The goal is to keep working on both these books throughout winter break and take them with us on our short trips during this time.
Another great resource for younger kids to read the stories of the prophets is My first Quran Activity Book. Excellent hands on learning for little ones and lots of games built within.
All three are available at Happy Street.
If you bought these and find them useful, please remember us in your dua!
Happy Learning!
